The Canlan Ice Sports Skating Academy offers a wide selection of skating development programs to meet the needs of any child or adult who wishes to skate. Each level of the Canlan Ice Sports Skating Academy – Learn to Skate Program is designed with specific elements and exercises to be completed by the participant.

Each skater in the Academy enters at the designated level according to skill and age. Our system is designed to progress participants from the Learn to Skate program up to figure skating and hockey programs. The Canlan Ice Sports Skating Academy boasts professional instruction which gives each participant an opportunity to excel!

Parent And Tot

Parent and Tot Learn to Skate is designed to introduce new skaters to the fundamental skating skills with the assistance of a parent. Qualified instructors lead parents and children through various games and activities to make the children reach a comfort level on the ice. Parents must have competent skating ability in order to help their child during the program.

Pre-school Learn to Skate

Pre-school learn to skate introduces participants to basic skating skills. Children advance through a progression system by completing selected skill sets and getting more comfortable on the ice. As skating becomes more natural, participants can advance into hockey, ringette, figure skating, or continue skating recreationally.

Standard Learn to Skate

Standard Learn to Skate focuses on the fundamentals of skating and prepares participants with the essential skills to participate in hockey, ringette, or figure skating. Participant’s progress through skating levels based the completion of demonstrated skills.

Adult Learn to Skate

It’s never too late to learn how to skate! Adults of any age and skill level can start skating with this program. Join us to work on basics and proper skating technique. If you’re interested in building your fundamentals before taking a beginner level hockey program or just want to learn to skate recreationally, Adult Learn to Skate is for you.
